The Tribhuvan International Airport management says it is preparing to shut regular business of the sole international airport of the country for around 45 minutes this afternoon as Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is landing in Kathmandu.
Younger Nepalis, who in 2014 had welcomed Modi, have found various platforms to express their displeasure with the Indian leader, it said.
Modi is beginning his visit from the Madhesi Terai area. The two PM's are also expected to make some other announcements including ones on the revision of the Transit Treaty between the two countries, collaboration in agriculture and survey for expanding rail linkages by connecting Raxaul in India to Kathmandu.
'Prime Minister Oli and I will have the opportunity to take forward our recent wide-ranging discussions in New Delhi on issues of mutual interest, and to advance our cooperative partnership across diverse sectors, ' said the Prime Minister.
Modi will also hold meetings with politicians from across the spectrum, including the Madhesi leadership.
Apart from Kathmandu's growing proximity to Beijing, another irritant in bilateral relations is the problem Nepal continues to face with demonetised Indian currency notes. The 69km pipeline from Motihari in Bihar to Amlekhganj in Nepal will deliver 2 million tonnes per annum of petroleum products to the fuel-starved country and will be built at a cost of around Rs200 crore.

King Janak and King Dashratha not only united Janakpur and Ayodhya but also united India and Nepal. The Prime Minister reached Janakpur this morning on a two-day visit to the Himalayan nation.
He said that these are vibrant centres of pilgrimage of tourism and testimony to the strong cultural ties that bind the two nations. Mr Modi is also going to address a civic reception in a short while from now.
On Saturday Prime Minister will visit historic Muktinath temple and offer prayers.
Later, PM Modi will emplane for Nepal's capital Kathmandu where a slew of official engagements has been scheduledfor delegation level talks.
