News interview at the NBCUniversal Upfronts in New York City earlier today.
The Twitter account WrestleVotes, which has broken the news on a number of backstage stories in the past, wrote on Monday "Asked about the Ronda Rousey v Nia Jax rumors happening at MITB & not SummerSlam".
Rousey, who was also at the event in NYC, had this to say regarding the challenge.
Tune in to WWE Money in the Bank on Sunday, June 17, streaming live on WWE Network.
While Rousey is new to the sport, her mixed martial arts background makes her fun to watch in the ring, potentially creating an exciting battle at the next big PPV.
In a bit of a twist - which the WWE loves - current Raw female champion Nia Jax challenged Rousey for a match at Money in the Bank next month. "I happily oblige respectfully, so I can sit next to her", said Rousey.
Jax added, "We can still get along for now, but once we get in the ring, it's over".
The match will be only Rousey's second for the company, following her debut appearance at WrestleMania, where she teamed with Kurt Angle to beat Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Rousey will take on Mickie James in non-televised matches later this week as part of the European tour.
Nia, however, isn't buying all the Lady of the Manor talk and made clear that while they will be nice to each other outside the ring, "all bets are off" once they get inside the ring.
The goal, according to both women, is to uplift the women's division and to show wrestling fans that women have "more to offer" today than they ever did before. I'm very intrigued by how WWE will build this up and how the match will go.
