Black Panther director Ryan Coogler spoke to reporters at the Cannes Film Festival and revealed some interesting insights into what could be in store for the Marvel Studios' franchise.

Black Panther screened on the beach at Cannes to an enthusiastic crowd Wednesday night, and Coogler was greeted with a standing ovation when he arrived on Thursday for a conversation with critic Elvis Mitchell as part of the festival's "Rendez-vous Avec" series of filmmaker talks.

"Oh man", Coogler said, according to Variety. He also mentioned that there's a historical precedent for one: "They did it in the comic-book version".

While the Black Panther fever began fading in the wake of Avengers: Infinity War, the fans got some more of culturally rich Wakanda which acted as a battle field in the Avengers movie. "That's one of my favorite parts of the movie when I watched it, and I didn't expect that" he said.

The year's most lovable film Black Panther has nearly too many timely messages to count, which is one of the reasons it became the highest-grossing superhero movie, ever, a month after its release. That part of it was exciting. He highlighted the process of breaking down the story he wanted to tell (and how), along with how the women in Black Panther-T'Challa's brilliant sister Shuri, the Wakandan spy Nakia, and Dora Milaje general Okoye-were even "more important" than the men in the film. "We have these actresses who could easily carry their own movie". "They said they wanted "Panther" to feel like their James Bond, which I was excited about, because I love James Bond movies".
