U.S. Senate candidate Don Blankenship is being criticized for an ad he published Thursday in his bed for the Republican nomination for West Virginia's Congress seat. No, I'm realistic & I know the first thing Manchin will do is run ads featuring the families of those 29 miners killed due to actions that sent you to prison. McConnell is married to Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, who is from Taiwan and whose family owns a shipping company.
"Swamp captain Mitch McConnell has created millions of jobs for China people", Blankenship says in the ad that debuted Thursday. He noted recently in an interview that Chao's father is a "wealthy Chinaperson", then defended his language at a GOP Senate debate by claiming that he himself was an "Americaperson".
In case Blankenship wins Tuesday's chief, his campaign asserts paperwork detailing his financing will probably be published weekly. "In fact, his China family has given him tens of millions of dollars", Blankenship says without providing evidence in what could be his final ad of the primary. "I've never used a race word".
Most attorneys spend the weekend ahead of a election which makes a lastminute appeal.
When asked whether they would support McConnell as Senate majority leader, none of the candidates raised their hands - Blankenship ducked behind the podium.
Morrisey says he plans to forward information to Blankenship's probation officer to determine whether it's a violation of Blankenship's supervised release.
Blankenship confirmed to CBS News that he has not submitted a personal disclosure form, instead submitting a late fee for subsequent file. "Everything will be OK in a few days".
Blankenship told CBS News that his internal polling indicates he will earn the combined votes of both competitors Attorney General Morrisey and Rep. Evan Jenkins (R-District 3). "I think it's clear that Don Blankenship is in a close race now, it seems to be narrowed down between my campaign and Don Blankenship", Morrisey stated at his press conference. "I didn't stand on the Barack Obama team for five years - it took him five years to flip parties", Morrisey said of Jenkins, referencing his past affiliation with the Democratic Party while serving as a state legislator.
