"Sometimes you simply can not SAVE people from themselves". Now is the time when people are reflecting on her life, her work, her family, and just how much that first Kate Spade purchase meant to them.

The designer left a suicide note addressed to her 13-year-old daughter, telling her it was not her fault, reports CBS News' Jericka Duncan.

Born Katherine Brosnahan, Spade grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. Chelsea Clinton, former U.S. President Bill Clinton's daughter, was among celebrities mourning Spade.

From the original boxy handbags, she expanded into shoes, luggage and other accessories, as well as a home line, stationery, and three books.

The American fashion designer was found dead in her Manhattan apartment on June 5, 2018.

Over the years, Brosnahan and Spade appeared together on red carpets and other events as the actress' star rose.

"I will say this was not unexpected by me".

Saffo noted that she'd anxious that her sister had become "full-on manic depressive". They also enjoyed visits in New York City or New Mexico as Saffo tried to convince her to seek inpatient treatment. She went on to win a Golden Globe for her role in the celebrated Amazon series, which made her late aunt "insanely proud".

He wrote even though it was "fuzzy", he was sharing it because "we had so much fun that day". "I asked her why and she said, 'Because I want to design".

In a February 2017 interview with NPR's How I Built This podcast, the designer admitted that she had always been a nervous person and that she had often anxious about her company, Kate Spade New York, going under in the early years. "She was so sharp and quick on her feet", he said. Her sister said in an e-mail to CBS This Morning that she believed Spade suffered from bi-polar disorder. "Nothing ever came of it".

"After numerous attempts, I finally let go", Saffo wrote to the newspaper. I encourage you to become one of those people. "Please!' I know she perhaps had a plan, but she insisted she did not", Saffo added.

News of her death shocked the fashion world and led to an outpouring of tributes from her legions of fans.

"We were freaked out/saddened", Saffo said, "but she kept watching it and watching it over and over".

Saffo explains that Spade seemed fixated with the death of comedian Robin Williams, who had also taken his own life by hanging back in 2014. She's best known for her namesake brand of high-end handbags that were cute, colourful, and - for many young women - attainable. "So dear - so kind, so amusing", she wrote. I'll miss our 6 to 7-hour-long phone conversations between NY and NM.
