The most recent and final Marvel Studios release of 2018, Ant-Man and the Wasp, is now playing in theaters. Ant-Man and Wasp does have tie-in to the other movies but the movie is self-contained and one doesn't have to be versed in the big picture to enjoy it. That doesn't sound good, but it really is quite a strong weekend for the tiny hero.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is said to have opened with $76 million for the weekend, which is right on the money according to the first estimates of $75 million. Marvel might be used to breaking records with every release, but there's no reason they'd be unhappy with these returns either.
