The display comes covered with an unspecified version of Corning Gorilla Glass for protection against nicks and scratches. Its predecessor, on the other hand, came with a smaller 5 inch HD+ IPS panel. Although HMD Global announced the Nokia 3.1 with two RAM/storage options- 2GB RAM/16GB storage and 3GB RAM/32GB storage, the company brought only the 2GB RAM model to the Indian smartphone market.
The Nokia 3.1 is powered by a 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750N SoC along with Mali T860 GPU. The device comes with a hybrid SIM slot supporting expandable storage up to 256GB. It's also packing a dual rear camera setup with one 13MP main sensor with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP depth sensor to give your photos an artsy bokeh look, and there's an 8MP camera with f/2.2 aperture around front for your selfie needs. As for selfies and video calling, the handset comes with 8-megapixel fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84.6-degrees field-of-view.
The Nokia X6 that's being sold in mainland China is offered in multiple storage configurations but the Nokia 6.1 Plus is only available with 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. HMD Global was also keen to note that the phone will get Android P as soon as it goes out. It runs on Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box. As for the availability, the Nokia 3.1 will be available for purchase via Nokia's online store, Paytm Mall and across major mobile retailers starting July 21.
Nokia is providing a number of launch offers for early-birds. Buying the Nokia 3.1 from brick and mortar stores using Paytm Mall QR Code will get the buyer 10 per cent cashback on subsequent recharges and bill payments on Paytm. The device has been included in the Android One programme, which means it will receive regular monthly security patches for three years and two Android OS updates right after they are released.
HMD Global has also tied up with leading carriers Vodafone and Idea to provide launch offers to its consumers. On recharge of Rs 149, customers will get 1GB data daily along with unlimited calls and 100 SMS per day with a validity of 28 days. Additionally, users upgrading from 2G or 3G phone to the new Nokia 3.1 Android will get an extra 1GB data/day for the first 28 days.
