McGregor had made his professional boxing debut previous year where he fought superstar Floyd Mayweather in what was considered one of the biggest crossover bout.

McGregor (21-3) rose to prominence by first knocking out reigning featherweight champion Jose Aldo in a record 13 seconds in 2015, then becoming the first to hold two belts in November 2016 by knocking out lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez in the second round at Madison Square Garden.
That was the Irishman's last competitive fight but he has repeatedly made headlines, particularly when he was involved in an attack on a bus at a UFC 223 media day following a reported run-in between Nurmagomedov and McGregor's training partner Artem Lobov.
McGregor will avoid jail time and instead serve five days of community service and attent anger management classes.
The UFC 25th Anniversary Press Conference aired live on YouTube on Friday afternoon from The Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
UFC 229 in Las Vegas will be the biggest fight of 2018.
"It's time to go, so it's time to go", Diaz said.
"Hey, man. I told Colin I wouldn't ask you for tickets, and he absolutely lost it!"
The undefeated Russian fighter challenged McGregor for a fight after the incident, which White had labeled "the most disgusting thing ever happened in UFC history".
"But I'll do something fun and we'll do some different stuff. It's good to have Nate back".
McGregor and Nurmagomedov will meet in the main event of the UFC 229 pay-per-view show at T-Mobile Arena, the same spot where Mayweather stopped McGregor in the 10th round of their one-sided prizefight.
"This is a championship fight right here ... I've never turned down a fight in my life", Diaz said.
