It is even more than exciting to have DOOM Slayer back in this DOOM sequel. Of course, the footage was packed with a variety of terrifying new demon types, including a teased boss encounter. Doom has always been about "killing badass demons with big guns in unbelievable places", and Eternal doesn't look like it'll disappoint in that regard.
A new, fun feature available in DOOM Eternal is the ability to take control of a demon and invade another player's campaign. Oh yes, I said "players": multiple people can band together to form Slayer Hunting Parties, which should make for some deliciously desperate battles. Don't worry though - if you have enough trouble with Doom's AI demons, you can turn off invasions. Today at QuakeCon, id Software rectified that problem. The lead character has been enhanced and the team also showed off some new enemy models.
Id creative director Hugo Martin observed on-stage that the Super Shotgun is like the Doom Slayer's "Excalibur" - his trustiest weapon.
