The PlayStation brand has been around for nearly 24 years at this point, and in that time, Sony has sold a lot of consoles - more than 500 million, in fact. Sony tells gamers to be on the lookout for certain special serial numbers, which include 09995, the United States launch date of the original PlayStation, and 01115, the USA launch date for the PS4.
Sony announced the new 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro on Thursday, a new system with a special translucent blue outer shell meant as a "thank you" to fans for helping the company sell over 525.3 million PlayStation systems worldwide. The only sad part is that collectors will probably keep a lot of these units in their boxes, and they're too pretty not to play. We'll see the console launch at retailers around the United States on August 24, while the controller and headset will follow in early September. It will sell for $500 / £450.
Pre-orders for the 500 Million Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Pro will begin on August 24. It also sports a 2 TB hard drive for a substantial amount of storage space.
Vertical Stand - Display your console upright with the included Vertical Stand. The first and second PlayStation consoles make up almost half of this total, selling 102.49 million units and 155 million units, respectively.
4K-TV Gaming - PS4 Pro outputs gameplay to your 4K TV. For HD TV Enhancedgames, players can benefit from increased image clarity, faster frame rates, and other enhancements.
4K Entertainment - Stream 4K videos, movies, and shows to your PS4 Pro. Not only that it is also accompanied by DualShock 4 wireless controller and mono headset; both with matching translucent body. Head to the PlayStation European Blog to find out more.
