Fabio Capello says Daniele De Rossi ‘must enjoy’ the positive moments of Roma‘s latest game against Bayer Leverkusen: ‘He has just started his coaching career…’
The former Italian tactician sent a message to De Rossi, one of his former Roma footballers, during an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport on Saturday.
Roma faced elimination from the Europa League semifinals on Thursday, losing 4-2 on aggregate to Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen.
However, the Giallorossi had taken a two-goal lead in the second-leg semifinal in Germany and only two late goals from Xabi Alonso’s side knocked the Giallorossi out of the competition.
Capello says ‘just one thing’ to De Rossi after Roma’s Europa League exit
“I’d only say one thing to Daniele,” said Capello.
“Enjoy the positive aspect of the comeback, which he almost completed away against the Germans. De Rossi has just started his coaching career and these things are part of the journey.”
De Rossi made his senior Roma debut under Capello and the ex-Italian coach is the latest Giallorossi coach to have won the Serie A title.
Capello also spoke about Atalanta and Fiorentina‘s achievements and said he hopes for an Italian treble in UEFA competitions this season.
Capello played for Roma from 1967 to 1970 and coached the Giallorossi from 1999 to 2004.
