Napoli have reportedly decided to slam the brakes on their chase of Antonio Conte following the emergence of his old club Chelsea.
On Wednesday night, reports emerged detailing how Todd Boehly’s Blues has been in close contact with the Italian tactician in recent days to try and convince him to return to West London in the summer, wanting a replacement for the disappointing Mauricio Pochettino.
Conte, who has been out of work since leaving Tottenham in March of last year, has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A in recent months, with the most serious candidates being Milan and Napoli.
Napoli move away from Conte
As reported by Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis’ side have decided to slam the brakes in their chase of Conte, deciding to focus on other targets ahead of the summer. The club will announce their new head coach at the end of the season.
With the former Chelsea boss out of the picture, Milan’s Stefano Pioli could now emerge as the leading candidate, but much also depends on what happens in the Lombardy capital.
