Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma has always had mixed reviews at Paris Saint-Germain, but it’s reported they want to extend his contract.
The former Milan star made the move to PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2021 and his current deal runs to June 2026.
According to Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Ligue 1 giants are celebrating their title victory by offering Donnarumma a new contract.
A meeting will be set up after the season has concluded, most likely also after Donnarumma has participated in the EURO 2024 tournament with Italy this summer.
Donnarumma eyes PSG captaincy
The report suggests that Donnarumma is eager to remain and would even like to be considered as a future captain of the team.
His performances have not always inspired confidence in the PSG fans or French media, who feel he could do much better on crosses and when it comes to playing with the ball at his feet.
However, Donnarumma remains one of the best shot-stoppers in the business and will start against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League semi-final.
