Manchester United are seriously interested in making a move for Inter full back Denzel Dumfries in the summer and are now facing competition from Unai Emery’s Aston Villa, reports detail.
The 28-year-old Dutch right back has featured regularly under Simone Inzaghi this term but is looking likely to depart at the end of the season, being considered a strong option to sell in order to generate resources for other much-needed reinforcements.
Dumfries has been in the sights of Manchester United for a little while now and Inter are expecting to hear more soon, but the emergence of Aston Villa could change things. Emery’s side are on the cusp of securing a spot in the Champions League, which’ll increase their transfer market ambitions.
Aston Villa on Dumfries
Page 24 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Aston Villa have started targeting Dumfries ahead of the summer transfer window, interested in snapping up the 28-year-old Dutchman, who is valued at around €30m by Inter.
Should he depart, the Nerazzurri have identified RB Salzburg’s Amar Dedic as an interesting replacement. Despite their on-pitch success, the Milanese club still need to sell before they’ll be able to bring in some reinforcements ahead of next season.
